Count ESPN's Chris Low as one of those who believes the addition of Jeremiah Masoli could make Ole Miss an SEC contender in 2010.
Oregon's Chip Kelly on Masoli at Ole Miss: "He's a good kid and I hope he gets another shot." - heard on ESPN Radio's Scott Van Pelt Show. Now, what Kelly was willing to say on a national radio show and what he says to Nutt privately could very well be two different things, but my gut tells me he said the same thing to Nutt. If you ask me, the only real hurdle is the NCAA's residence requirement. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
PREDICTIONS: For reasons that should be obvious, I'll be refraining from making further game-by-game predictions until after Masoligate is over. Word is, Houston Nutt hopes to know what will happen with Masoli by this weekend.
Barnhart: I think Tony Barnhart may have read my post from Monday. Whether he did or not, we agree on this: What choice does today's college football environment give to Nutt but to take Masoli. Win baby win. If Ole Miss goes 5-7 this season and Masoli didn't make the team, Nutt's nobody is going to say, "but the coach has got good character." Nope. What they're going to say is "Nutt only won those first two years because he had Orgeron's players." Like I've said before, character doesn't sell tickets, win games, get you a pay raise or a contract extension. Masoli might do all four.
